批判性思维与西式思维方式的培养
SAT阅读一向重视学生的批判性思维能力。而批判性思维需要满足：理智的怀疑和反思态度，形成合理判定的思维技能，具有准确性、清晰性、相关性、一致性和重要性等特征的思维品质。没有批判性思维，不管考生掌握多少词汇量，对SAT阅读文章的理解，仅仅停留在文章表面的水平，看不透文章，看不穿作者。更可怕的是，这类学生凭自己的海量词汇和大量的英语阅读，还误认为自己能读懂文章，自己对文章的理解是正确的。这样不仅会影响SAT考试成绩，而且还会影响大学的学习。
因此在平时的阅读训练中需要对文本的合理性给予判断,包括读懂观点提出的背景和问题情境,弄清作者的研究思路与方法,评判作者的研究立论成立的前提(assumption)和假设(hypothesis),推敲作者资料的完备性和科学性等.
