在GMAT的Issue题库中,两次出现了同一个单词“enterprise”:
"In any enterprise, the process of making or doing something is ultimately more important than the final product."
"The best strategy for managing a business, or any enterprise, is to find the most capable people and give them as much authority as possible."
而这两道题中的“enterprise”不应都简单理解为“企业”。
实际上,根据 Webster 的对“enterprise”释义:
1: a project or undertaking that is especially difficult, complicated, or risky
2: readiness to engage in daring action: INITIATIVE
3 a: a unit of economic organization or activity; especially: a business organization
b: a systematic purposeful activity
“enterprise”可以被理解为人类有目的活动,就包括了科研、商业、探险等.
因此,这两道题的讨论范围都可以超出商业范畴,这也反映了GMAT考试的专业通用原则。
