Well, in general, I think I’m quite a nice person and I get along with most of the people I know. But you know, sometimes there are always exceptions. In my family, there is actually someone whom I dislike. This person is my aunt.
The reason why she is such a pain in the neck for me is that she is really a chattering middle-aged lady and an incessant complainer! Every time I meet her, she is complaining about something---the terrible weather, the weight she has gained, a grumpy neighbor…… It seems to me that she is so negative about everything.
Although I absolutely don’t appreciate my aunt’s way of speaking, sometimes I think I have to pretend that I have amicable feeling toward her. This is because she is a senior in my family and I think I am supposed to show some respect to a senior family member like her.
So every time she starts nagging about something again, I would just smile and pretend to be interested in what she is saying. To me, this has always been a draining experience because she just keeps talking and talking and this is literally driving me crazy. To be honest, I am not so comfortable with this as I feel like having to put on a mask and smother my real personality to try to make her happy.
