北密歇根大学坐落于密歇根州，马凯特市，是上部半岛规模最大的大学，密歇州最大的三所公立大学之一。
其他认证包括：美国医学、体育、娱乐与舞蹈联盟、美国化学学会、辅助医学教育专业认证委员会（外 科）、美国语言语音协会学术认证委员会（交流障碍）、社会工作教育委员会、运输部联邦航空局、国际咨 询服务协会公司、密歇根州注册管理部、密歇根州护士局、美国临床实验科学认证局、美国工业技术协会、 美国音乐学校协会。此外，学校的护理专业（实用护理，学士和硕士学位）得到了密歇根州注册管理部、护 士局的全面认证，硕士学位也得到了大学护理教育委员会的全面认证。沃克.L.凯斯勒商学院的学士学位专业 得到了国际商管学院评鉴协会的认证。
北密歇根大学下设5所学院：文理学院、沃克.L.凯斯勒商学院、研究生院、专业研究学院（含教育系、护理系、技术与应用科学系）和艺术与设计学院，开设本科和研究生专业共计180个。毕业生毕业后直接进入高等院校深造的人数比例达到19.3%，毕业后六个月内就业/深造的比例达到81.1%。北密歇根大学获得了美国中北部各州院校与中等学校协会的认证，根据2008年版的《美国顶尖大学》（《美国新闻与世界报道》编辑），作为中西部州硕士学位点的北密歇根大学排在第三名。相继被评选为美国最安全的50座大学城之一，密歇根州最友好的校园以及优秀青年家园。
