哈格雷夫军事高中成立于1909年，是一所传统优质的私立住宿军校，只收男生，提供7到12年级的中学课程，及中学毕业后的一年大学先修课程。虽然属于基督教浸礼会的宗教学校，但不会强调学生的宗教信仰。哈格雷夫军事高中校风严谨，最主要的办学宗旨在于教导每一个学生有效的学习方式，及如何准备大学预备课程，并培养完整的人格，奠定学生进入大学的基础。除了训练学生优良的学术水准之外，还有生活纪律及优良品德的养成。
教学特色：
校风严谨，强调培养学习能力，开设有难度的大学预备课程，为学生营造积极、愉快的学习环境。通过与联想电脑经销商的合作，学校配备现代化科技教学设备，大大提高学生学习效率。所以毕业学生进入包括美国海军学院（United States Naval Academy）在内的许多著名美国院校。
课程设置：
弗吉尼亚州教育部所规定的基础课程。
AP课程：微积分Calculus， 高等代数Advanced Algebra， 读写评论Critical Reading and Writing， 化学Chemistry 和物理 Physics。
体育运动：
体育项目也是军校中比较多的一所：棒球、越野运动、操练示范、高尔夫、射击、攀岩、游泳、摔跤、篮球、潜水、美式橄榄、兜网球、步枪射击、英式足球、网球等等。
课外活动：军营生活、来复枪整队、科林鲍威尔领导力项目、法语俱乐部、计算机俱乐部、戏剧表演、锣鼓与风笛队、军乐队、摄影小组、彩弹俱乐部、童子军、合唱团、护旗队、历史电影俱乐部、大冒险活动、荣誉委员会等。
毕业去向：
弗吉尼亚理工学院，弗吉尼亚州立大学，自由大学，北卡罗莱纳大学，北卡罗莱纳州立大学，东田纳西州立大学，弗吉尼亚军事学院等
