Our aim is to ensure every student has developed a strong set of skills and knowledge that will give them a range of options in future pathways. At Year 12 we offer a wide choice of VCE subjects, VET and VCAL programs.
Our College values are encapsulated in the word RESPECT. Development of this is embedded in all learning opportunities, whether it is in the classroom, interactions between students, the sporting field, the music program, performing arts or any other co curricular activity. Over 130 students perform in the annual Production.
With the commitment to the College by the both Federal and State governments shown through three major building programs, the College is well placed to implement successful evidencebased approaches to teaching and learning that lead to improved student outcomes.
This school has 121 equivalent full time staff: 3 principal class, 88 teachers and 30 education support staff. Our sense of community is central to who we are and to our aim for students to become ethical global citizens. The College has an International Student's Program , involving students from China , Japan and Malaysia .
While overall student learning data shows we are performing slightly above the state median, we are not doing as well as expected on the school comparison measure. We are doing well in Years 7 and 9 NAPLAN and attained excellent VCE results. There are further gains to be made in VELS teacher judgements for English, Maths and other subjects.
The appointment of key staff for 2010 who are responsible for these programs will see an additional focus on them, and an improvement in student results as a consequence.
Student learning will be further supported by:
1. Developing a whole school approach to the use of data to support improved literacy and numeracy in all subjects and at all levels
2. The development of teaching spaces that evoke inspirational teaching and imaginative approaches to curriculum in the Middle Years
3 Increased professional learning of teachers.
4 A carefully documented curriculum that will encourage all students to achieve at higher levels.
