西澳州人口210万，面积253万平方公里。从2001年起，西澳州的经济每年增长率都超过10%以上，创造了澳大利亚的经济奇迹！西澳州2007年GDP达到1400亿澳元，人均收入超过6.8万澳元，比悉尼所在的新洲高30%，比墨尔本所在的维州高40%，是澳大利亚最富有的州。
西澳目前的失业率为3%, 人口每年净增长4万多人，人口增长率2.1%,超过昆士兰州，成为澳大利亚人口增长最迅速的地区。
西澳的地理位置也有区位优势，与新加坡、香港、上海、北京位于同一时区，没有时差。珀斯到新加坡的飞行时间不到5个小时，到香港7.5小时，到日本10个小时，非常方便。珀斯的气候属于典型的地中海式气候，冬天温暖，夏天不热，非常舒服。
西澳政府教育培训署公立院校中招收中国学生的包括25所中学，两所学院（Tuart, Canning）和5所TAFE（Swan, Chanllenger, Central, Regional, West Coast）。
西澳大利亚州政府中学接受海外学生，学校位于珀斯及周边地区，每所学校都有专职的海外学生辅导员照顾海外学生的接机、住宿安排、学习安排以及其他所需要的帮助。除列出的学校外，学生也可选择其他的政府学校。
在西澳大利亚州，中学每年为四个学期。7-10年级，学生学习通用的课程。到了11和12年级，学生根据自己将来的职业趋向选择课程。11年级，学生通常每学期学习6门课；12年级，学习5门课程。学校还为海外学生提供英语辅导课程。12年级结束时，学生进行五门至六门学科的大学入学考试（TEE）.
所有申请就读西澳大利亚政府中学的申请人需要向西澳大利亚州教育部申请，而不是直接向学校申请。
